this information. In all cases of jacking up the car, or using
tools, BE CAREFUL and DO IT PROPERLY. Parking brake, wheel chocks,
and jack stands are NOT OPTIONAL, they are NECESSARY. Always
disconnect the negative battery lead where electronics or welding are
involved, and make sure the lead is touching nothing but air. Be
safe, and have fun. See the
Safety Tips page for
more info. This is a pretty simple install, especially on the 2001. Supposedly some F-Bodies have a tube or two that need to be bent out of the way, and sometimes the A/C retaining clip is under one of the tower bolts, but not on mine. Anyway, the only helpful stuff I can offer is to get both a long AND a short 15mm socket for this install. The long one is necessary for removing the bolts, and the short is necessary for getting under the bar once installed to tighten them. With the added thickness of the STB, the short one can tighten the bolt all the way. When you install the STB you may notice some space between the mounts and the car, just tighten the bolts real well and it will go away. I don't have the torque specs, but I tightened them down until it was obvious they were all the way on. I'm sure this install is fairly similar to SLP and other STB braces. |
