1. To remove the stock grille, pop the two sides out. Then grab one side and YANK hard! The middle will begin to pop off. Then yank the other side and remove completely. Don't worry, SLP uses the same yank method when installing optional grilles. If you want to get the metal clips out of the front fascia after, you can just smack the underside of it with your hand, side to side, and they'll fall out eventually. They'd probably come out on their own eventually, but I wanted to save mine. 2. Wipe down the area under the grille. If your license plate bracket was installed, you may have to use some bondo and touch up paint to fix the holes. 3. Hold the new grille up to the mounting spot, and note where the holes are on the fascia. Remove the grille and place 4 pieces of masking tape in these 4 general areas. 4. Hold the grille up again and use a black marker to mark the center of the 4 holes. Remove the grille, and on the two side holes, mark about 1/8" back from the mark you just put on. This will pull the grille sides back toward the body a little, makes it tuck in better and tighter. 5. Drill the 4 holes through the masking tape, use a bit the size of the core of the screw, not the whole screw, this is just a pilot hole, you want the threads to grip. 6. Remove the 4 pieces of tape. 7. If you get the black grille, use some black touch up paint to make the screw faces match. Just don't fill in the Philips head! 8. Line up the grille and HAND screw the screws in until the grill rests firmly against the body, just don't turn too tight, and do each screw a little at a time. 9. If you want to attach an emblem, just mount it using 3M emblem tape. If the emblem has posts, you may need to cut them shorter, but leave about 3/4" to help hold it in place. |
