The following is for informational use only, author(s) are not responsible for damage or any other expense caused by the use of this information.  In all cases of jacking up the car, or using tools, BE CAREFUL and DO IT PROPERLY.  Parking brake, wheel chocks, and jack stands are NOT OPTIONAL, they are NECESSARY.  Always disconnect the negative battery lead where electronics or welding are involved, and make sure the lead is touching nothing but air.  Be safe, and have fun.  See the Safety Tips page for more info.

This is a pretty simple install, just a couple things to make sure they're in right.

1.  First, inspect the gaskets, make sure all the raised parts on both sides of the gaskets should have clearly defined edges, and there should be no pits or dents on any part of the gaskets.

2.  Clean the block surface thoroughly with a razor blade or ice scraper, then wipe down with carb or brake cleaner.

3.  Now lay the gaskets in place, MAKING SURE to line up the coolant holes.  Since the gaskets are the same for both sides, you need to make sure the coolant holes line up perfectly, front and back.  There are two holes on the back and one on the front.  If they don't line up, flip the gasket over.  Double check both sides to make sure they are not blocking the holes.  See pictures to see these holes.

3.  Make sure the gaskets lay flush on the block and are not catching on anything.
