Autotap lets you read any vehicle sensor in GM OBD-II equipped cars.
It also lets you view and clear trouble codes (which cause the Service
Engine Soon light to come on). I will post more info as I gain
experience, but so far it has come in handy for looking at air/fuel ratio.
It is amazing the stuff you can read with this thing, and log to a file
for graphing in excel, etc. If you are like me and have a ultralight laptop with no serial port, the same company that makes the Autotap cable makes a USB to serial converter. I've used a couple others that did not work with anything but PDAs, but this one works with both the Autotap and my cell phone, and was only about $40. Both items are on their site (www.bb-elec.com) but can be found for less other places. Keep an eye on this page for more info on what to monitor and how to interperet/use it to your advantage.... |
